Description
This was a real fire in Comfort, Texas. I have never shown it before, as I did not want to offend or belittle the Fire Department there. If you look hard in the background you can see the Fire Department sign. I had been there the night before on a photo shoot and was behind the building shooting a carousel horse through a fence. The next morning the newspaper had a picture of the carousel horse with just smoking wreckage behind it. I went back after work to see if there were any pictures to be had. I was cropping the city name out of the image when the title came to mind 'Too Close For Comfort' Too good to pass up in my opinion. I heard that this was the old Mohair building where goat hair had been harvested for decades. The wood had soaked up so much oil that when the fire broke out, the entire building burned within a very short while. I carried the newspaper photo of the horse in my wallet and showed it to fellow photographers to prove a point - 'When you see a picture shoot it, tomorrow it will have changed' - in this case it was no longer there.
